In the course of scientific inquiry, scientists read many articles and need to track what they have read. Researchers often write summaries of papers or annotate them. Yet, they may want to share these annotations to their collaborators as well as read others’ annotations for reference. My thesis project constructs a generic, sharable, publishable and searchable framework for organizing this supporting information. To expedite the use of scientific knowledge, I also examine how to assign a unique, penetrable identifier to articles. The implemented system is a dynamic collaboration platform which enables researchers to share annotations, search by fields and add new fields and organization as appropriate, and publish the annotations. |
