Dr Wang Aobo, successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled "Addressing Informality in Processing Chinese Microtext" with flying colors on 20 August 2015. Aobo continues his work with BNP Paribas currently.

WING has a good crop of publication work from both its undergraduate and postgraduate students this term. We have accepted work at CIKM on information retrieval and knowledge management, at ASONAM for social network analysis and the NLP-TEA ACL workshop on second language learning. Professor Diane Litman is visiting WING and the NLP groups at SoC over the months of August to December 2015, to collaborate, research and teach on discourse. We look forward to the collaborative works and her input on a number of projects that touch on NLP discourse in points related to pedagogy, discourse parsing, MOOCs and discussion forums.
